The Red Devils are linked with a swoop for the England international during the summer, but they were unable to secure a deal, despite the 27-year old newspaper interview.

According to Tuttomerweb, Jose Mourinho remains interested in Rose while Chelsea are also keeping tabs on the left-back, but it is believed that united are leading the race.

The Englishman has spent nine months on the sideline with a knee injury, but is being tipped to make his comeback some point in October.
Ben Davies has taken over the left-back role in Rose absence.
