Romelu Lukaku has passed off his goal celebration for Manchester United, against Everton on Sunday as 'a bit of banter'
following accusations that he gauded his former supporters.
After scoring Manchester United's third goal in a 4-0 rout, Lukaku raced away to celebrate and cupped a hand to his ear in
the direction of the Everton fans after they had ironically
cheered his errant free-kick earlier in the match.
The 24-year old's reaction to scoring against the club where played for four years has reignited the debate about whether
players should celebrate against their former employers.
Lukaku and Everton compared this season.
"I mean, its another goal and I'm happy with the win. it [the clebration] was just a bit of banter, after [they cheered]
The free kick I missed," he said.
Following an impressive return of 87 goals in 166 appearances for Everton, Lukaku completed a £75m move to Manchester United
in the summer and he has made a blistering start, to his career at Old Trafford.
The Belgian's strike against the Toffees took him to seven goals in many games for the club, his five Premier League goals
This season is three higher than his former team-mates have managed collectively.
As well as top-scoring for United this season, Lukaku also supplied an assist for Henrik Mkhitaryan,s
strike against Everton while he converted 29.4% of his total chances.
