The versatile Barcelona man has played in a number of positions from defence to attack for Pep Guardiola's former club,
and the Manchester City manager is thought to want the bring the 25-year-old to the Etihad according to Spanish outlet Don Balon.
Roberto has a £35.3 million release clause in his contract which expires in 2019,
and although he would like a renewal at Barcelona the club is yet to begin talks with the player.
