Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a move for Emre Can with their chief scout Javier Ribalta taking a look at the Liverpool midfielder.
Can has entered the final year of his contract and is yet to reach an agreement over an extension.
United look set to be in the market for a midfielder next summer with Michael Carrick and Ander Herrera’s contracts terminating at the end of the season.
And according to Italian outlet Tuttosport, United scout Ribalta has watched Can and Mourinho is seeking top class replacements for Carrick and Herrera.
The report stresses Liverpool will not sell Can in January, meaning the transfer wrangle could go on until next summer.
